Creation Apps provide opportunities for students to generate ideas, design plans, and produce products. I want students to play with information, I want them to feel a sense of ownership of that knowledge and I want them to create something using the knowledge.
Congratulations to the more than 100 students who took part in the Winter Reading Challenge!
Students have continued coding this week. Students comments include:
I did it!
This is not easy!
Kindergarten, First and Second grade tried coding today! Students used iPads and computers to give coding a try. The Hour of Code website crashed yesterday, but that didn't stop us! We used other resources and enjoyed the first coding experience.
The Hour of Code is the largest education event in history. During Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8-14), every one of our students will be amongst over 2 million worldwide spending one hour learning the basics of computer science. This movement, organized by Code.org and supported by Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and over 100 others, is designed for students to learn how to not just consume, but to build the technologies of the future. Cutler School is ready to teach these foundational 21st century skills.
